  7. A-Plan is a Shareware program that fully conforms to the requirements of
  8. the Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP).  Acoording to those
  9. requirements, A-Plan is not "crippled" in any way.  You are invited to test
  10. A-Plan for a period of 30 days, after which the registration is a measly
  11. $50.00.

  13. Why 2.31?
  14. ---------

  16. This is an interim release to fix a few bugs that were found in the date
  17. formats.  Some people were experiencing problems when trying to install or
  18. run A Plan for the first time.  There are no feature enhancements to this
  19. version.

  21. Application of A-Plan:
  22. ----------------------

  24.      There is a Japanese saying about alcohol: "Man take drink, drink take
  25. drink, drink take man."
  26.      Are you taking on your workload, or is your workload taking you on?
  27. Do you constantly have the feeling that you missed something?
  28.      A-Plan is a Program designed to regain and maintain an overview
  29. of all those projects that are covering you up.  Take a closer look.
  30.  
  31.      Of course if you are planning a million dollar project, or just enjoy
  32. shooting gnats with a cannon, we would recommend a conventional Project-
  33. Management package.  The requirements of course are about $2000.00 and a
  34. couple of weeks to sit around and figure out how it works.

  36.      Should you not have the time for such shenanigans, and would rather
  37. give the golf clubs a good workout, you can start using A-Plan -- or
  38. continue to use whatever system you had.
  39.  
  40.      Should you decide for A-Plan, for a paltry $50.00 you will recieve a
  41. flexible and powerful Planning Instrument that is so easy to use, that you
  42. can immediately begin work.  And if you don't enjoy golf, surely something
  43. else will dawn on you to get rid of the time and money you've saved.  If
  44. not, we can also help you with that.

  47. A Plan Basics:
  48. --------------

  50. Whether you're trying to plan an exhibition, or just getting a grip on the
  51. daily "to-dos," A-Plan is for you.  You can also delegate tasks or Supervise
  52. private projects, or plan your honeymoon or your next expedition.
  53.  
  54. The complete operation of A-Plan can be visualized in a simple database
  55. structure:
  56.  
  57.   1.Level: Folder (max. 999 Folders / Database),
  58.   2.Level: Projects (max. 999 Projects / Folder) and
  59.   3.Level: Tasks (max. 999 Tasks / Project).
  60.  
  61. So, theoretically you can enter a million Projects, and about a billion
  62. Tasks in a single database, and if that isn't enough, just start a new
  63. file.
  64.  
  65. A Folder could have the name "Exhibitions" for example, and contain the
  66. Project "COMDEX".  As Tasks for the project you could have the entries
  67. "Reserve Stand", "Make Signs", and Assign Personell."
  68.  
  69. Should the project prove to be more complex, you may wish to give it a
  70. complete Folder, or even a complete database. You could then have the
  71. further entries under "COMDEX" and "Make Signs" of "Design", "Layout",
  72. "Presentation for Approval", etc.

  74. Projects and Tasks are structurally identical and posssess the following
  75. Data Fields:
  76.  
  77. - Description (50 Characters)
  78. - Priority (1 - 5)
  79. - Contractor
  80. - Worker
  81. - Entry Date
  82. - Beginning Date
  83. - Reminder*
  84. - Deadline
  85. - Completion remark incl. completion date
  86. - Notes (max. 32.000 Character)

  88. *If you have a Task that must remain unaccomplished for a certain period
  89.  of time, you may set a marker for a certain date on which you wish to
  90.  be reminded of the upcoming event.  This is especially useful for
  91.  delegated tasks that you wish to "check up" on later.

  93. Through various display options, it is possible to gain an overview of
  94. all going, completed, and incompleted tasks.
  95.  
  96. The time periods of the Tasks is displayed in a Calendar (Gantt-Dia-
  97. gram) which can be zoomed 18x. At normal magnification, (1 pixel per day)
  98. you can see about a year, and at 18 pixels per day you you be able to view
  99. about 3 weeks.

  101. Among other options (Sorting Order, Auto-Save) there are various
  102. Filter functions for searches of the Database.  Even the largest
  103. Database presents no problem.
  104.  
  105. Printing of data is an analog function of the Display.  That means
  106. that all of the parameters that are set for the screen can also be
  107. used for the printing of the data, including color (assuming you have
  108. a color printer).  The calendar will also be printed accross multiple
  109. pages if necessary to maintain an overview of the data.

  111. Through the ergonomically designed interface, A-Plan is pretty much self-
  112. explaining, and very simple to operate.  Except for data entry, the
  113. keyboard is seldom used, and A-Plan can be completely served with the
  114. mouse.

  117. System requirements:

  120. - Windows 3.1 in 386 enhanced mode
  121. - ca. 2 MB free on the Hard Disk

  124. Installation:
  125. -------------
  126.  
  127. Insert the diskette in the drive and select "Run" from the "File"
  128. menu in the program manager.  Type in A:\setup and press enter.  The
  129. Setup program will only ask you for the directory you are installing
  130. to, the rest will be accomplished automatically.

  132. If you are the proud owner of an earlier copy of A-Plan, you can install
  133. the new one in the same directory as the old.  Your data and registration
  134. information will be preserved, and any "extra" files will be deleted.
  135.  
  136. You also have the option to install the shareware version.  It is
  137. possible that you have recieved the registered program as a copy from a
  138. friend, and we ask you to be so honest as to install only the shareware
  139. version until you have registered with us in your own name.

  142. All necessary System files - i.e. the VB runtime modules - will be copied
  143. into the windows system directory, as they are sometimes used by other
  144. programs, and it is not necessary to have multiple copies on the hard
  145. drive.  Should the files already exist, they will be examined for date,
  146. and only the newest files will remain on the hard drive.

  148. The first time you open A-Plan, the EXAMPLE database will be used, to
  149. give you an impression of what A-Plan is capable of.
